We are a father and son team (Ian and Joe Butler) who work full time at our workshop in Lazonby. Our emphasis is on high quality items which are made from locally sourced hardwoods.
In the last few years the business has grown so we are now wholesaling to a small selection of shops and galleries. We are also busy catching up with the 21st century, hence this website!
Ian established the business in 1980 making wooden toys most of which were strength tested by whom else but the four Butler children themselves (Joe, Toby, Imogen and Elsie). After finishing University in 2003, the oldest of Ian’s sons Joe joined the business which, as well as still making beautiful toys, has now evolved to encompass the many new and innovative products you can see today on this site.
About Us
Based in Lazonby, Cumbria (near Penrith) we welcome visitors to our shop which is usually open Monday to Friday 10 - 4. If you’re feeling lucky then we’re often open later, but equally there is a chance we may be away at a craft fair!
